Carrie Bradshaw has always been known for her great sense of fashion and this week on The Carrie Diaries is no different. At the beginning of episode 112: “A First Time for Everything” Carrie can be seen sporting the Up in the Tee Tops from ModCloth.
I can’t think of a time in my life when I haven’t had a pet roaming the house. Over the years, I’ve had a variety including cats, dogs, iguanas, guinea pigs, mice, fish and a rabbit or two. Now, I gravitate towards dogs and cats. Currently, my spouse and I have one of each and both are rescues.
The other day I made mention of the Applebee’s Thank You Movement. It’s a program that honors our heroes for their service and, on November 12th, veterans and active duty military can enjoy a free Applebee’s Signature Entree. Since then, I’ve been searching for restaurants who are offering free meals, appetizers, breakfast, etc. There are quite a few. These offers are for active, former and retired military only and you need to show proof of military service.
Veterans Day is right around the corner and the Applebee’s ‘Thank You Movement’ is in full swing! This program was started in 2009 to honor our heroes for their service and bravery. Veterans and active duty military can enjoy a free Applebee’s Signature entree on November 12th. It’s great way to say thank you for their service and commitment to our country. Over Labor Day weekend we planted our mums. The following week I baked the first pumpkin loaf of the year. Okay. I know. The official start of the fall season isn’t until next week, but in my book, the transition from summer to fall happens over Labor Day weekend. End of story.
I’ve been signing up for free stuff now for about 6 years. I still get that twinge of excitement when I open my mailbox and there is a tiny box or one of those bulging plastic envelopes. I don’t think I need to tell you what gets opened first. I love free samples. Those sample sized boxes of cereal make great snacks. The sample sized deodorants and toothpaste…well, let’s just say they’ve come in handy when I’ve put off running a few errands.
The most seasoned bargain shoppers will tell you that the best time to buy seasonal items is at the end of the season. As a lifelong savvy shopper, I agree. You won’t see me buying summer apparel and outdoor decor in the spring or the first weeks of summer. I make my purchases for these items at the end of August and right through the end of September. That’s when the summer clearance sales are bursting through the roof.
