Today I had a brief moment of panic. My big fat come as you are wedding is 20 days away. All the big stuff is in order and most everything is organized. There are just a few details that we still need to take care of. One of them is the guest book. Now, you might be thinking that this dilemma can easily be resolved with a trip down the wedding aisle at Michaels. Choose. Purchase. Done. Well, it’s not that easy.
A few months ago I was browsing Pinterest (hardly a big surprise), and came across the most brilliant idea for a non-traditional guest book. If you’ve ever shopped at The Knot Wedding Shop you’ve probably seen The Knot tab. Once you click, you’re instaly in the world of all things wedding. You’ll find their blog, wedding ideas, tools, local vendors, videos, real weddings, etc. This particular pin came from The Knot.
I had every intentions of getting a traditional guest book until I saw this. Rocks. You can either buy them or search for your own. Provide the guests with some permanent fine tip markers and let them write a message on a rock instead of inside a book. Brilliant! During my travels to Watch Hill Beach in Rhode Island, I discovered that one of the beaches had a ton of smooth & thin rocks that were both white and off white. The sizes were perfect. Unfortunately, at the time, we didn’t have pockets or a bag to collect the rocks in.
This would be one of the tiny details that we still need to take care of. We need the rocks. Time is ticking. So, at some point this week, we’ll be making a trip to that one beach to collect rocks. The next decision…do we put the rocks in a basket or beach pail? Hmm…
